CLUE

Last night Char, Joanna, Mara, Charity, John, and Bernard were invited to eat some mexican at the Doherty's house. (Sean and Natalie and their newest family member Kaitlyn she's almost 8wks I think). Yummy food. One of John's favorite board games is Clue. This was a learning curve for some of them because it is a newer edition game. We had teams of two's and one team of three. Sean and Natalie won the game and revealed the a) the killer, b) where c) the weapon used. John had solved it right before Sean and Natalie had their turn and won!

Getting around

I took small Thatcher for granted...now being in downtown Raleigh it's a little intimidating. I find my Garmin is a lifesaver when I become directional challenge (which is often) I had mapped out on the real map where the Post Office was today and when I got there CONSTRUCTION. It's gone! So I cheated, turned my GPS on and used it to find the other Post Office = less than 4 blocks away. Good grief.
I went to the Farmer's Market today. Love that place. It's better than a super market. Char, my roommate, and I got fresh peaches, blueberries, Fuji apples, you name it the probably have it. I guess on Saturdays you can buy it by the bulk. I have also visited in November and there are gorgeous trees, wreaths that smell so good.

Yesterday I went with John to Greek II. His whole class gets a kudos from me they are working really hard. I brought a book in case you were wondering...John also took me to Shorty's his favorite place to eat at Wake Forest (near his seminary). If you ask for "Hot dog all the way" you'll get a hot dog, chili, cheese, and chopped onions on a bun. It's good I couldn't believe how red the hot dog looked cooked it's just red looking meat weird. Very tasty. Speaking of food. I don't crave Subway as much any more my favorite food right now is Chick-fil-a. I do miss La Casita!

BIG NEWS

Today was my interview at Duke University Hospital. I awoke to my alarm or should I say alarms because I set two just in case. Anyone do that? At 5am I'm in the shower by 6 I'm out the door driving to Durham (approximately 36 mins away from Raleigh). I set up a shadow experience and the day shifts start at 7am. I am greeted well by the staff on the 8300 floor. (General Medicine) very warm and friendly maybe that's the Southern way.
Lea (pronounced "Lee") was willing to let me shadow her for part of her morning rounds. My interview was at 10 and I had already met the nurse manager Sue Tabb. Wow - she's caring, and totally for her staff. She said, "I want you to give 110% here". The interview process wasn't an interrogation but a very relaxed setting where Sue asked is there any Q's? What a relief! And clearly helping me feel at home and competent....I wasn't intimated or felt like I had to sell myself as this great nurse! God had it planned all along that I would be in this department have this interview on this day and leave there knowing He is so faithful and I would be offered the job. So I start July 6th.
Thank you Lord for being my Rock and the Horn of my Salvation. Amen

On the road again

Today I went to the auto shop and got a tune-up and oil change. Paul the mechanic working on me also saw my spark plugs need to be replaced as well as some other wires. Ouch! That hurt. He then charged my lady $350.50 to be back on the road again. Boy I am I happy to be able to travel to Raleigh now I just need some gasoline and I'll be ready to take my lady and her mother across the country. With best regards, Amy's black Mustang

John is doing summer school

John is currently taking Greek I the term only lasts for three weeks! He got 100% on a quiz today. John told me this great news over the phone today.
I hope I can be of some encouragement to him while he is studying and working so hard to finish his degree. I decided to insert some pictures of the campus, and beautiful buildings at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. I've only gone into one of John's classrooms.

Trust in the LORD

This is often a simple command that happens to be a harder one to put into practice for me. I've also observed it in others...when finances fall short, when (I/we) don't have a job, you fill in the blanks. Why cannot I just trust HIM? Hasn't he been faithful before this! Yes and he remains to be faithful. I got a call today from the Nurse Recruitment office at Duke that I no longer have an interview. Oh okay. What then do I fear. Nope. I took a good look at my heart today and found some joy without the interview - where will it take me (should I say "God take me" excuse me). Perhaps to just the right job he has in mind. It wasn't until something else happened that I started to let fear creep in. Lord thank you for being a faithful and loving God who cares about my comings and goings.
This is the passage of scripture I read today. Galatians chapt. 5 especially verse 26 "Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires."
Wow I need to dwell in that mind-set. The earlier verses say For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit...
Everything contrary to Spirit which includes fear, faithlessness, and a lifestyle not trusting her Savior.
I want my desires to become one of a holy lifestyle and living to glorify my Father. I hope I too can repeat Paul's words I have crucified the sinful nature...and I'm not living for myself.

Mike leaves for Camp

This morning Mike left for Glorieta New Mexico. This conference center is in the mountains it's beautiful there. Last summer I was there one week. It was Glorieta's first time having Centri-Kid!
Mike is working in the kitchen/dining hall along with his other friends from FBC - Elise & Carissa Burk, and Shaianne McCarthy.
We said our goodbyes in the drive-way (at 6am) but also last night. I am so happy for him and especially when he gets back from camp he'll be heading out on his own to the U of A. Wow! This was a sad departure because I too will be leaving on June 4th for North Carolina so we might not see each other until Thanksgiving? God knows. Deut. 10 what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the LORD's commands
