Lake Lynn

 Our 1st apartment together. This is the road we live on. I cannot say I run very regularly on this lake but I love the chances when I do. Sometimes I found John with book in hand reading on the grassy areas.

 I usually make friends with the geese. Especially when I bring bread.  I often see turtles popping out their heads from the water or sun bathing. This was probably the first time I have seen a swan on the lake.

                        

The mile markers can either make you happy or discouraged as you jog around the lake. Instead I like finding my favorite memory spots as mile markers. One example is where John and I had a Cook-Out (fast food) picnic. This captures some of the great memories God has graced John and I with as a new married couple and I will say I will miss Lake Lynn very much when we move to Ohio. I guess I will learn to love another lake.  I guess I missed my monthly blog post. That's how much I blog.

the best and worst part of being a nurse

Yesterday I took care of a 43 y.o. female she had been deaf until three years ago she had a cochlear implant. Can you imagine!
I came home yesterday crying because she was admitted with a bowel obstruction. The medical doctor taking care of her is affectionately named "Dr. G" - he and his interns pulled up the CT scan of her abdomen and he stated look that could be mal-practice (this means the Doctor in the ER was not paying attention and didn't read the CT scan properly). Dr. G said she needs a surgeon to consult her very soon. My thoughts, "Yikes this is serious!" She had come into the Emergency department the night before with nausea and vomiting. So today my plan of care was to make sure she was comfortable and be her advocate. I kept letting the doc's know she was extremely nervous please explain her test results and the next procedures. The test she was having today was a endoscopy. Knowing there was a bowel obstruction/mass the medical professionals took a sample of the cells for testing. The result: Cancer.
My patient came back from her test and I honestly hadn't been given any information nor had she. So she asked, "Am I okay?"
I looked at her and said the doctors are trying to take samples for what kind of cells the are they will come and talk to you as soon as they know the results. And so Dr. G said please text page me when the family is visiting. So I did. Soon enough the doctors came at the end of my shift bearing the bad news of her cancer diagnosis. I waved good-bye to her as I left for the day amongst her family members and smiled as if I had no words to console them at this period in her life-she smiled back and said thank you.

I visited John in Raleigh on his Easter break. I enjoyed every minute. It was hard to part at the airport we started to get used to being able to talk face-to-face every day.
Here we are at the Atlantic ocean - Topsail Island. (We bought navy tee-shirts too.) The beach was so peaceful and such a sunny day to relax. I even was nice and played football with him! (it turned out to be fun)
We ate out at Molli's seafood, and took our time taking pictures, finding seashells, people watching, and taking in some memories. I decided which pizza place I liked the most in Raleigh - Lilly's!! Not to say we didn't have any conflict but God really blesses us with restoration with each other. Understanding. And teachability. I really love him so much.
